Up to 10,000 stochastic riverine flood events simulated under El Niño and Super El Niño rainfall conditions, covering Peru and Ecuador.

The dataset is provided as raster files (.tif/GeoTIFF), simulated for El Niño convective periods and representative of multiple return periods (RP5, RP10, RP25, RP50, RP100, RP200, RP500 and RP1000) or their equivalent annual exceedance probabilities. The format is compatible with most GIS and catastrophe modelling software. Flood hazard layers were generated through hydrological modelling at a 12 m spatial resolution for each return period.

The workflow comprises the following steps:

  1. Synthetic El Niño events: simulation of 15,000 El Niño years.

  2. Synthetic convective storm catalogue: storms generated under El Niño, Super El Niño, La Niña and neutral conditions.

  3. Riverine flood modelling: flood events derived from the simulated convective storms. To purchase this dataset, please contact our scientific team via the "Contact" form.
